Dr Philip Tong is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists after completing his dermatology specialist training in NSW as the inaugural Dean’s Fellow in Dermatology, a joint initiative with The University of Sydney. He underwent world class-research and dermatology training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Liverpool and Westmead Hospitals. He is a VMO at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney as well as Deputy Director of Research, at The Skin Hospital, Sydney. He is a member of the All About Acne expert panel and is in private practice in Bondi Junction, Sydney.
Topic Summary
Acne is a very common problem in General Practice. There are a wide variety of treatments – including some new arrivals – that GPs might find useful. In this lecture, Dr Tong will provide a refresher on current acne management and also provide an update on new agents that have become available.

Dr Terri Foran is a Sexual Health Physician and has a special interest in contraception, menopause issues and the management of sexually transmitted infections. She was previously the Medical Director of Family Planning NSW and is now in clinical practice in Darlinghurst. She is also engaged in both clinical and research work at the Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney. Dr Foran holds the position of Lecturer at the University of New South Wales in the School of Women’s and Children’s Health. She coordinates Phase 2 of their undergraduate Women’s Health program as well as supervising a number of modules in the Masters of Reproductive Medicine and Masters of Women’s Health Medicine Programs offered by UNSW.

Prof Jason Abbott

Dr Jason Abbott is Professor of Gynaecological Surgery at the UNSW and is the chair of the Expert Endometriosis Group for RANZCOG. He is an associate editor for ANZJOG and the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology and has more than 140 publications including text-books, book chapters and large-scale RCTs in gynaecological surgery. Jason has an active role in undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral supervision and is the former Chairman of the Practice Committee of the AAGL charged with delivering evidence-based guidelines for surgical gynaecology.

Dr Jim Tsaltas is head of Gynaecological Endoscopy and Endometriosis Surgery at Monash Health and Monash University. He is also past President of AGES (Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society). He is a Clinical Director and Senior IVF Specialist at Melbourne IVF. He has presented and published widely both nationally and Internationally. One of his main research interests is the impact of endometriosis and adenomyosis on Infertility and IVF outcomes.
Topic Summary
This presentation brings together a ‘brains-trust’ in the management of menstrual problems and menstrual pain. Using a specific case study approach, the panel will take you through the management of endometriosis from menarche to menopause. The panel will attempt to provide a practical and evidence-based approach to the management of symptoms but will also bring their own considerable personal experience to the discussion.

Her mission is to bring deliciousness back into aged care, by supporting staff to create tasty, quality food that makes the residents want to lick their plates clean! She follows the motto “Through the stomach, to the heart” - we show we care for people through good food and company. She thinks outside the box when it comes to ways to achieve this, and works together with catering staff to develop and create quality and affordable meals. Louise is based in Townsville and provides services to the surrounding areas as well.
Topic Summary
Malnutrition screening using simple questions can identify problems early and prevent long term consequences and GP’s play a pivotal role in identifying malnutrition early and referring them to the allied health/ community services they need. Louise will define malnutrition, it’s prevalence and the consequences of malnutrition, and provide useful clinical tips to identify the signs and symptoms of malnutrition. Practical strategies to screen, prevent and treat malnutrition will also be provided.
