Migraine is the second biggest cause of disability in the world.

Headaches that don’t go away are more often than not, chronic migraine, says Australian neurologist, Dr Michael Eller.

Many people don’t realise that migraine is the second biggest cause of disability in the world, Dr Eller said on a recent Healthed podcast, and 2-3% of the population worldwide experiences migraine.

Key to assessing a patient presenting with a ‘headache that doesn’t go away’ is getting a detailed history which will provide the answer to whether this is indeed an exacerbation of a chronic condition or is a sign of underlying pathology that needs further investigation.
